Peeling the Onion: Musings of a Franciscan Lawyer |
|
Rick Givan, local attorney and member of the Third Order of Franciscans, has published a book chronicling his life work of blending his spiritual nature with his law career. Rick passed away in early January. He was 62 and died of lung cancer. You may remember him as long time bus captain from St. Joseph's church in Cabot. He was Chairman of Butler PHL for many years and supporter of many humanitarian causes in the area. He was a lawyer and member of Secular Order of Franciscans; he recently published a book Peeling the Onion which is a collection of his memoirs and ProLife writings over the years.
This book is an easy-to-read collection of prose and poetry, which will certainly touch your life. Father Lester Knoll, in his introduction to the book, describes it as “a case study of the Loving Lord Jesus patiently ‘making all things new’”.
Rick has donated all of his books to local charitable organizations, including Butler Chapter of Pennsylvanians for Human Life. The book sells for $10 and all proceeds will be given to these charities. It makes a great Christmas present for the special people in your life!
If you would like a copy mailed to you, please return the following order form with a check for $12 ($10 for book, $2 to cover postage and handling) to: Pennsylvanians for Human Life, Butler Chapter, P.O. Box 93, Butler, PA 16003-0093. Please make checks payable to PHL Butler.
